PROGRAM STAFF
Corey DePina, Songwriting & Performance Director, is an accomplished rapper, a skilled
workshop and program facilitator, and a long-time participant in ZUMIX programs. Corey came to ZUMIX at age 13 as a
participant in our Z-TECH Audio program and went on to participate in almost every ZUMIX program including all of our
Songwriting and Performance programs, Adventures in Music and Z-TECH Beatmakers. He served on the Youth Advisory Board
for several years, and has done workshops on the history of Hip Hop and the mechanics of beat-making at ZUMIX, numerous
city-wide agencies and most recently did a three-day Hip-Hop Immersion workshop for all the school children on
Deere Isle, ME. Corey studied for two years at Massachusetts Communication College and has recently completed the
ten-week BEST Initiative youth worker training and the Advanced Youth Workers Certificate program.
Megan Donovan, VISTA Volunteer, graduated from Emerson College with a BA in Visual Media Arts and a concentration in Film Production. She has produced, edited and directed several video pieces, and currently serves as the Media Lab Coordinator at HOME Inc. She is a member of the MNNY experimental art collective and was a radio personality (Mighty Michty Megan) for a children's program, The Playground, on WERS 88.9FM.
Daniel Fox, Technical Director, is a musician, composer, producer, engineer, and activist. Among the programs that Dan coordinates
at ZUMIX are live sound, studio recording, and electronic music production. He has a BA in sociology from Vassar College and is a
founder of AgitArte, a street theater troupe. Before joining ZUMIX in 2002, he worked as the Creative and Cultural Director at the
Boys and Girls Club in Lynn. Dan has played electric bass with The Foundation Movement, and a variety of local soul, R&B, blues,
and funk bands. He has produced music for the Foundation Movement, Soulfege, The FloorLords, Big Brotha Sadi, Walnut, Conundrum
and others. As a freelance recording engineer he has worked with clients ranging from hardcore rock bands, to folk, pop, film
soundtracks, jazz, funk, R&B, and a lengthy roster of Boston's best Hip-Hop.
Laura Macias, ZUMIX Sprouts Coordinator, received her Bachelor of Music Composition and Theory from the Petrie
School of Music and her Masters in Music Composition from the Longy School of Music. Laura was recently accepted, with
scholarship, to the New England Conservatory's Kodály Music Institute where she will receive a Kodály Teacher
Certificate. Laura has been working to help map a path for our youngest members to be involved in programs
and as they grow, integrate into our larger group programs.
Stephen Provizer, ZUMIX Radio Coordinator, was the Technical Director for Dorchester's Radio Log 540AM, founded to give teen girls a voice. Previously, he founded Allston-Brighton Free Radio 1670AM in Boston. He also served simultaneously as its General Manager and Program Host/Reporter. Stephen was Brighton High School's Media Teacher, and Announcer and Board operator for WJIB 740AM in Cambridge. He is a performing trumpet player, and composes music for theater, including the Oxford Street Players at Lesley University, for which he serves as Music Director.
